Carmarthenshire County Council congratulates all students in the county receiving their GCSE results today, Thursday, 21 August 2025.
62.4% of all entries in Carmarthenshire have been awarded an A*-C grade with 17.3% of entries achieving an A*-A grade.
On receiving her results today, Manon from Maes y Gwendraeth School said:
"I had eight A*, two A's, a B and a Distinction. I am very happy with my results and I'm going to return to Ysgol Maes y Gwendraeth to study, English, Welsh, Spanish and Music."
Cllr. Glynog Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Welsh Language said:
“Today is a celebration of the brilliant achievements of our young people in Carmarthenshire that are receiving their GCSE results. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication in preparing for your GCSEs.
“These results are also a reflection of the support and commitment of our teachers and support staff, and the families and friends of our young people. Congratulations to you all.”
In a joint statement, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Chief Executive, Wendy Walters and Director of Education and Children’s Services, Owain Lloyd added:
“Congratulations to our learners on their fantastic achievements. Your hard work and dedication are recognised in these results and we are very proud of you all.
“We would also like to extend our gratitude to their teachers, support staff, families and friends for their hard work over the last two years. Thank you all.”
