Throughout the summer, the County Council’s Actif Leisure Centres are stepping up to offer a wide range of activities to help families stay active and entertained. From pool inflatables, Aqua Boards, and Nerf battles to themed activity days and creative sessions, there’s no shortage of things to do. The popular Actif Club holiday club is also back, offering both half-day and full-day options for working parents. As part of the Council’s commitment to accessible activities, free swimming sessions for under-16s will be available on selected weekends at Llanelli, Amman Valley and Llandovery Leisure Centres.

Carmarthenshire libraries are hosting free, hands-on activities throughout the month from storytime and LEGO play to crafts and coding clubs offering fun, learning, and creativity for children of all ages.

Theatrau Sir Gâr has an exciting lineup across the Lyric, Glowyr, and Ffwrnes theatres. The programme includes family shows, live music, comedy nights, and musicals, featuring highlights like Breadcrumbs, Ceridwen, 9 to 5 The Musical, The Louis & Ella Music Show, stand-up comedy, and One Foot in the Groove a nostalgic daytime rave. Free family fun days will also be held at each venue throughout the summer.

Actif’s community teams are rolling out county-wide activities this summer, including affordable bike hire from Carmarthenshire Museum in Abergwili so families can cycle the new western section of the Tywi Valley Path. Carmarthenshire has a fantastic cycling offer with Sustrans Routes 4, 437, and 47 through the county offering a fun and affordable way to explore the county’s coast and countryside.

Enjoy a picnic on one of Carmarthenshire’s award-winning beaches Cefn Sidan, Pendine, or Llansteffan or explore the dramatic ruins of Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr, and Kidwelly Castles for a taste of history and adventure.
